Pinky Beecroft is a musician, singer, writer and raconteur from Australia.

He first achieved notoriety as the front-person of Machine Gun Fellatio - a band famous for wild live shows, off-stage call-the-cops chaos, relentless touring, show-stopping festival performances and a string of radio hits.

During their brief, explosive life-span MGF dominated the airwaves on Australia's national broadcaster Triple J, scored multiple songs in the Hottest 100 (including three in the Top 20) and gathered a cult live following that crossed into the mainstream after their appearance at the 2002 Big Day Out.

At the height of their success Pinky abruptly quit the circus and disappeared. There were rumours: he'd gone into hiding in Norway; he'd relocated to the Arizona desert; he'd passed away. Thence followed mourning, weeping, whispers, conjecture, alleged sightings.

 

Some things we know: Pinky turned up in TV shows as diverse as The Glasshouse and The World 9-Ball Championship. He performed sold-out shows as a stand-up comedian. He won an ARIA for Song Of The Year and co-wrote the number 1 song on the Hottest 100  ("No Aphrodisiac" recorded by The Whitlams). He did relocate to the Arizona desert, for some time.

 

He also recorded a couple of astonishingly lovely solo records, toured with a band called The White Russians, supported Elvis Costello, wrote & produced television series and remained an eccentric and supremely unpredictable outsider-figure in the Australian cultural landscape.

Now, after an extended period as a recluse, Pinky has emerged again - with a bunch of new material and a brand-new band of exceptional musicians. 

 

On August 14 he is releasing a new album: "Lonesome Wolf." It's his first studio album in more than a decade.
